On Monday John showed PowerPoint on Texture and discussion with Chris re different types of texture depictions.
On Tuesday the learners brought in objects to draw from. This can be supplemented by our own store of objects.
Initially they are to attempt to depict the texture/surface qualities using dot & line and restricted to pencil and paper.
On Wednesday they should move on to using charcoal, conte, carbon, ink & wash.
The idea is that they start from a point of familiarity and then move to being more adventurous.
It might be useful to suggest that they try to match media to texture and then the inverse- i.e. choosing the least suitable medium. Often the results from this second attempt can be surprising.
On Friday the learners will concentrate on Invented, Abstract textures.
