The day started with a talk on Perception hosted by John and Aidan. Magritte's "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ("This is not a pipe")
We then returned to responding to Music
"3 Gymnopedies et 6 Gnossiennes"- Eric Satie - Ink Wash on paper focused on Tonality
"Cantus Articus"- Einojuhani Rautavaara- two hands, two brushes, two tones on paper
"KQED Spark- Jim Denevan"- YouTube- video of land-artist at work generated discussion on transience, value, ownership, loss, documentation, ecology, planning, impact, intention etc.
Lunch
"Kehna Ghalat Ghalat To Chhupan"- Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan- collaborative works- each learner initiated a drawing on a sheet of paper that was then passed on to a neighbour whilst listening to the music. A discussion (seminar) followed.
